{"id":1754,"date":"2014-02-24T01:23:59","date_gmt":"2014-02-24T06:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amykazor.com\/?p=1754"},"modified":"2024-05-16T11:51:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T15:51:16","slug":"revisiting-old-work-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/revisiting-old-work-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Revisiting My Old Work Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I sit here writing this, I am in the back room of the retail women\u2019s clothing business I built with my Mom. \u00a0Today the store turns 24 years old.<\/p>\n<p>In 1989, I was a student at the International Academy of Merchandising and Design in Chicago (now the <a title=\"IADT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iadt.edu\/Chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Academy of Design and Technology<\/a>). For my business management class, I had to create a business plan as a final project. The business plan I wrote became this store. \u00a0We opened it on Valentine\u2019s Day 1990.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1755 alignright\" alt=\"Business Plan\" src=\"http:\/\/faithfilledannualplanning.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/binderlayingopen-246x300.png\" width=\"148\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/binderlayingopen-246x300.png 246w, https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/binderlayingopen-123x150.png 123w, https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/binderlayingopen.png 506w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 148px) 100vw, 148px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ten years later, in 2000, I was ready for new adventures and experiences. I was burned out with retail hours and work life; curious about computers and the internet. I didn\u2019t want to keep the store going and Mom did, so I left. \u00a0She trudged along, growing the store to what it is today.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, I began helping her again, virtually. Needing help with her online presence, she became my first VA client and was the reason I started my VA practice. I would work on her projects on evenings and weekends while I managed my corporate office during the normal work-week.<\/p>\n<p>It was because of this and being back on a &#8216;retail&#8217; type schedule that I even looked into whether or not I could help more people virtually, which is how I then learned about the VA industry and AssistU. \u00a0In truth, that business plan from 1989 was the first step for me to have the successful VA practice I have today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/faithfilledannualplanning.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/24-Years.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1757 alignleft\" alt=\"24 Years\" src=\"http:\/\/faithfilledannualplanning.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/24-Years1.png\" width=\"460\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/24-Years1.png 1140w, https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/24-Years1-150x61.png 150w, https:\/\/amyhood.biz\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/24-Years1-300x122.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/a>So, I am here to celebrate 24 years. Ten with us together working crazy, stupid hours to grow a business together, eight more years when she grew it without me, then another six with us together again virtually. I am in awe of how God works, and the changes that have happened in both my Mom and I over these 24 amazing years. \u00a0Also in awe of how very little sometimes changes. \u00a0And, after awe, gratitude of the awesome experiences I have had because of this opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>How has your past shaped your work life today?
