Did you know that each week hackers create 57,000 fake websites?
That’s not including the content that is manufactured to flood our inboxes with spam. During a three-month study conducted by an anti-malware developer called PandaLabs, researchers found that, on a daily basis, cybercriminals churn out thousands of websites that manipulate search engines and deceive users.
These imposter sites lure unsuspecting users into clicking on them. Forty-four percent of these copycat websites were inspired by money-channeling sites like Western Union and eBay.
What was PandLabs’s advice? When possible type in the URL of the site you want to visit yourself, and skip the Google clickable links.
Remember, keep your system security up to date, invest in great security for your machine (I use Norton 360 by Symantec) and surf the web responsibly and carefully.
