I couldn’t be with my mom this Mother’s day, she is too far away… but we talked a little and she was on my heart all day.
We have quite a history together, she and I… those terrible teen years, subsequent rebellious years, and fellow entrepreneurial years. We worked together, side-by-side, from 1989 – 2001 and built an incredible business. She continued on in it without me until 2014.
We began that business when she was just 42 years old. This past June, after 24 years, she closed it down so she could retire.
And in 2012, when I was just over 42, I built my Virtual Assistance practice into the full-time practice I have today.
I owe my work-ethic to my mom… my determination, my tenacity, my perseverance, and my strength all come from her. I am so grateful of the example she has been in my life, to work hard and see the fruit of that labor help define us as business women. To see lives touched and forever changed by our efforts. It’s a beautiful thing.
Happy Mother’s Day, mom… thank you for encouraging me to live the life I am meant to live and do the work I love to do. I love you.
